The Fabric Frolic 2020 is proudly supporting Backpacks 4 Vic Kids. You can get involved by donating goods or your time to make various bags. Each shop will be a drop-off point from now until the end of the Frolic. Drop your donation in and get a raffle ticket for a shop prize.
Backpacks 4 Kids are a registered Not-For-Profit charitable organisation run by volunteers. Our purpose is to aid children going into Out of Home care such as foster care and kinship care. Often children are placed quickly into foster care without much more than what they are wearing at the time. We strive to provide them with a few essential items to help with the transition.
ME Packs and ME Jnr Packs (our filled backpacks and nappy bags) contain size and gender appropriate contents including essential items such as toiletries, clothing, sleepwear, a torch, blanket and a toy or activity which will belong to the child, and will stay with them should they be relocated again.
If you have time, there are several items that you could make:
If you would like to make our B4VK Toiletry Bags, Stationery Bags or
Nappy Bags especially designed for our B4VK recipients or our Christmas 4 Kids in Care Christmas Sacks, just click on the links provided and download a pattern.
Backpacks 4 Kids are always in need of donations to help fill our backpacks. Each nappy bag or backpack contains one gender (boy or girl) and a single clothing size. For example, a backpack may be for a child who wears girl’s size 8 clothes.
These are the items we pack in our backpacks below. When a child arrives with a nappy bag or backpack their carer can concentrate on making them feel safe, instead of having to rush to an all night supermarket for supplies. These items can provide security as they fall asleep in a new home.
No aerosol cans, no nail polish, no alcohol based products, no sharp or glass items.
